Stacy Adams

President & CEO

In 2001 Stacy founded Top Gun Computer Solutions to bring technology solutions to small and medium-sized businesses with a focus on support, business, and innovation. After 5 years of steady growth Stacy merged Top Gun Computer Solutions with Direct Tec. Inc. to bring together two IT companies dedicated to providing inclusive IT services to the small and mid-sized market.

Stacy Adams is a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. During his time at DeVry, Stacy worked as an independent technical consultant for small businesses in Calgary. After graduation he joined IBM in a contract capacity, responsible for system integration and end user support in banks and automotive corporations and a major transportation company in Canada. Stacy later became a team lead for a nationwide IP migration project, managing technicians responsible for migrating nearly 700 users.

In September of 2001 Stacy resigned from his post as Chief Technical Officer at Dane Systems to begin Top Gun. Today, Stacy brings well-honed customer service and communication skills to lead Direct Tec.

Don Van Mierlo

Don Van Mierlo describes himself as a Serial Entrepreneur. He has been involved in several very successful startup companies, some of which have grown into multi-million dollar enterprises.

Don has spent his life in IT, dedicated to bringing computer technology to companies in order to help them grow. He has been in senior management in major companies, including IT Director in several companies, holding all technical roles from programming to support, from Telecom to Application Development.

Don's experience includes:

  • Alberta Cash Register: Bought the company and within three years, developed new products and doubled sales.
  • Direct Tec, Inc.: Took over a failing company, brought in new people, merged with Top Gun - and Direct Tec is now strong and growing.
  • Hatsize Learning Corporation: Funded the start up in 2000, and is now Chairman of the Board. In just seven years, Hatsize has developed a leading product and has become a multi-million dollar company, with a solid base of large technology clients mostly based in the USA.
  • WellPoint Systems Inc.: Funded the start up, participated in taking the company public, and served as Chairman for several years.
  • StarDot Prg, Inc: Started StarDot, led it to $10 million in sales before selling the company.
  • BP Canada: Served as Director of IT and guided the department while BP became Talisman
  • Canterra Energy: Directed IT until the company was acquired by Husky.
  • Imperial Oil: Served in all roles from programming to management in the IT Department.

Don was twice elected as Alderman in the Borough of East York in Metro Toronto. He served for four years during which he chaired the Personnel Committee and was a leading member of the Finance Committee.
